Touchstones Rochdale an Arts Awards Welcome Centre

Touchstones Rochdale is now officially an Arts Awards Welcome Centre allowing the organisation to fully support the Arts Awards and offer practical help to people who are pursuing their creative potential through an Arts Award.
Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification that supports young people aged from 11-25 to develop as artists and art leaders. Administered by Arts Council England and Trinity Guildhall, Arts Award is offered at three levels: bronze, silver and gold.
Speaking about the Arts Award recognition, Kelly Allen, Arts Development Assistant said: “We are really keen to increase the number of young people in Rochdale Borough who have the opportunity to achieve an Arts Award. This is just one of the ways we are planning to support people to achieve this.”
Touchstones houses four art galleries, a museum, local studies centre, education and event studio as well as the Arts Development Service. The Arts Development Service works closely with nine other arts organisations across the Rochdale Borough to provide opportunities to for those who would like to participate in the arts.
Beate Mielemeier, Arts Development Manager said: “ With arts development work we try in general to offer as many opportunities as possible for people of all age ranges and backgrounds to enjoy arts and creative activities as an enjoyable and enriching experience.
"The status of ‘Arts Award Welcome Centre’ enables us to introduce more young people to pathways of exploring their own creativity and through that supporting them to fulfill their aspirations.”
