Townhead Junction - letter to Council leader

Date published: 27 November 2015

Dear Editor,

Please find attached copy of email sent to council leader today.

Dear Sir,

As part of the duty of care to its community the RMBC needs to address the issue of the Town Head junction, clearly the junction in the past did not have the high frequency of accidents that the modified junction has. So it isn’t rocket science to analyse what has changed from the old to the new and take urgent action to rectify the situation.

At least 12 people (6 accidents) have had close calls in terms of serious injuries and possible fatalities to say nothing of pedestrian safety risks.

The cost of these accidents will be reflected in future insurance premiums across the community which already has a poor rating and as a result high premiums. To say nothing of increasing local NHS pressure and cost by creating more patients for local resources.
Press reports of councillors maintain nothing is wrong except driver incompetence do not hold water and display a lack of common sense.

If you ask this question of 100 motorists you will get one answer.

Question: Do you consider yourself a poor driver, an average driver, or a better than average driver?

I trust you will view this email in the spirit intended in the interests of road safety.

Regards

Clive Jones
