Santa and his sleigh coming to town

Date published: 17 November 2015

Santa and his sleigh will be coming to Heywood over the next few weeks.

Following an idea from members of The Rotary Club of Heywood, Santa and his sleigh will be calling at different areas of the town to visit local families and children.

George Kinder, from the Rotary Club, said: “Some of our younger members used to be in the Round Table when Heywood had a Round Table and it is something that they suggested doing. The club has been getting the sleigh ready and we will be taking it out on its first outing on Saturday (21 November).”

Santa and his sleigh will be leading the parade at this year’s Heywood Christmas lights switch on event.

George added: “From what I have been told it is a great looking sleigh and other people must think that if they are letting it lead the parade.”

Money raised from the collection will be go towards Rotary funds, which are then used to help people within the town.

“We have been a little bit quiet over the last few weeks but this is our busy time now,” said George.

Santa and his sleigh will start visiting areas of the town from Friday 27 November and it is hoped that he will be out and about for six nights over the next few weeks between 6pm and 8pm during the week and between 4pm and 8pm during the weekend.
