Teens and Toddlers Programme:

The Year 10 Teens and Toddlers group had an important visitor before half-term, Cllr Kieran Heakin spent a session with the girls at the nursery and then came back to school and called in at The DEN to see the individualised support available to students.

Exciting Unveilings

After half term, there have been some exciting developments with our building. Firstly, our expressive arts ‘Wall of Fame’ signage now decorates a corridor in the Caritas building.

Secondly, our ‘Metrolink, Making Connections’ display has been unveiled near our reception area and finally, our ‘Dome’ has lost the blue fencing and is currently being prepared to become our new library! At St. Cuthbert’s, we are committed to designing and promoting a positive and pleasant learning experience for all. Be sure to have a look at our exciting new developments.

Expressive Arts news: ‘Stars of the Week’

  • Drama: Jordan Hennessey for his excellent characterisation
  • Art: Davi Garcia for his enthusiasm and lovely designs
  • Music: Mara Tavares Cabral for her excellent progress in Music theory
  • Media: Connor Daniel for his thoughtful and intelligent contributions to class discussions

All will receive certificates and vivos

‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ please check the rehearsal schedule for next week. It is only four weeks to dress rehearsal so it is crucial that everyone attends

  • Music: GCSE pupils please keep up with recording practice in the log books
  • Art: the Art Barn is open every lunchtime and after school for extra tuition
  • Media: Yr 9 pupils are in the process of making a film to be shown during anti bullying week.

The film will promote awareness of bullying and what young people can do to combat bullying and keep themselves safe

The Expressive Arts ‘Wall of Fame’ is finally finished! Look out for photographs and pupil profiles appearing to showcase our students’ talents

Next Tuesday there will be a presentation in the Hall at lunchtime of the Expressive Arts subject badges. All pupils who study and Arts subject at GCSE will be presented with a badge to wear on their blazer. We want to celebrate the commitment and creativity of pupils who opt for Drama, Music, Art and Media Studies. These are challenging subjects which require a great deal of independence and resilience.
