Jamie Lonsdale jailed for 38 months following burglary

Date published: 03 September 2015

Jamie Lonsdale, from Rochdale, has been jailed for 38 months and his lover Cassy Heaney, also from Rochdale, has been remanded in custody for sentencing following a burglary in which £1,300 worth of items were stolen from a house in Bacup.

Lonsdale, 31, of Kirklee Road, Rochdale, pleaded guilty to burglary and was jailed for 38 months.

Heaney, 29, of Garden Court, Belfield, Rochdale was found guilty of burglary after a trial and has been remanded in custody for sentencing on 14 September.

A third man who was involved with the crime has not yet been identified.

The incident happened at around 5:30pm on 4 May 2015 when the occupants of the house were away. Burnley Crown Court heard that nearby resident David Stocks spotted the gang as they carried out their crime.

The court heard that Mr Stocks was returning home and noticed ‘a male acting suspiciously’ at the junction of Newchurch Road. He also spotted a red Peugeot that he knew didn’t belong to anyone on the street, with a woman sat in the driver’s seat.

The court then heard that Mr Stocks went into his house and took down the car registration plate after believing that the pair were acting suspiciously. He then witnessed Lonsdale coming out of a back street carrying a large flat screen television.

Other items stolen during the incident included two laptops, two Xbox controllers and an iPhone 4s.

It is understood that when police forced entry into Lonsdale’s home four days later, he was found in bed with Heaney and it was suspected that the two were in a relationship.

Upon searching the home, officers found a V5 log book for the Peugeot and Lonsdale later pleaded guilty.
