Best ever GCSE results at Whitworth Community High School

Date published: 20 August 2015

Students, staff and parents at Whitworth Community High School are celebrating the school’s best ever GCSE results with 63 per cent of students achieving at least five A* - C grades, including English and Maths.

This is a significant increase, with the headline figure improving from 48 per cent in 2014, which was itself an improvement on the previous years, and reflects the school’s journey and commitment to ‘Climbing Higher.’

Headteacher, Gill Middlemas, said: “These fantastic results, across subject areas and across the whole ability range, are testament to the strong ethos of the school, which is driving improvements and raising aspirations, and to the sheer hard work and commitment of our students and staff.

“I am delighted that our school is enabling so many of our young people to fulfil their hopes, aspirations and dreams.”

The school’s top GCSE achiever was Lorna Wesley who gained three A*s in Art and Design, English Language and Religious Studies, four As in English Literature, History, Science and Sociology, three Bs and a C.
