Travellers to be moved from Ings Lane

Travellers on Ings Lane
A group of travellers who have set up camp on land on Ings Lane are due to be moved.
Shortly after the travellers arrived, they were served with a notice from Rochdale Council to move. They ignored this notice and now Rochdale Council is taking legal action to have the travellers moved.
Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Shortly after the travellers arrived at council land in Ings Lane we served them with a notice instructing them to leave the site.
“This notice has been ignored, so the council has now issued a court summons, and our case will be heard this Wednesday (22 July) at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates’ Court. If the judge endorses this, the travellers will have 24 hours to leave the site voluntarily or be removed.”
