Boy attacked with baseball bat and metal bar suffers severe head and facial injuries

Date published: 15 June 2015

A 15-year-old boy was left with severe head and facial injuries after being attacked with a baseball bat and a metal bar by a group of teenage thugs in Rochdale.

Between 5.45pm and 6.15pm on Sunday 14 June 2015, the victim was walking along the park area known as Robbie’s Common near Moss Street and Dodgson Street when he was approached by four teenagers.

Without provocation, he was assaulted with a baseball bat and a metal bar before they ran off.

The offenders are described as being Asian, in their mid to late teens with two of them wearing baseball caps and glasses.

Detective Constable Sarah O’Connor said: “The victim was set upon savagely by the group who hit him around the head and body with the weapons. He suffered severe head and facial injuries and is in a lot of pain.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the assault on or recognises the description of the group to call us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8549 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
