Petrus sleep out

Date published: 14 April 2015

The Petrus Community held a Sleep Out on Friday night (10 April) to raise money for the support of homeless people.

Denis Skelton, co-ordinator of the event, said: “It went very well. 30 people attended, including the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, and Simon Danczuk popped in too.

“We slept out all last Friday night, and we’re hoping to raise £3,000 for support towards homeless women.”

Sleep Out is a campaign, which has also been in other parts of the country on the same night, where people sleep rough to raise awareness for those in poverty.

Mr Skelton added: “I would like to say a special thank you to Rochdale Football and Rugby Club for letting us use their pitch, and to everyone who attended.”

Petrus is a registered charity which began in 1972, and has since been providing supported housing and related services to homeless people in Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton, Rossendale and Oldham.
