Council selling Townhead Offices at public auction

Rochdale Council is selling Townhead Offices (on Yorkshire Street) at a public auction at the Etihad Stadium on 26 February with a guide price of between £250,000 and £350,000.

The Grade II Listed town centre three storey detached former council offices - approximately 1,104 sq m (11,877 sq ft) with car parking and on a site of approximately 0.26 hectares (0.65 acres) - were originally built as a residential dwelling in the 1800s but for many years has been used as council offices.

It is understood the building is now surplus to requirements staff having moved to the newly refurbished 'Fashion Corner':

Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “The building is surplus to the council’s operational requirements following the relocation of staff to the newly refurbished Fashion Corner and in line with the Council’s asset strategy it will be sold.”

The Council is also selling the Sutherland Centre, Darnhill, Heywood at the same auction with a guide price of between £200,000 and £230,000.
