RBH employees curry favour with a festive feast for Springhill

Date published: 11 December 2014

RBH employees from the Communities Action Team cooked up a festive curry feast for colleagues to raise money for Springhill Hospice.

Donating their own time and all the ingredients, the RBH Communities Action Team served up a three-course Pakistani feast to over 40 colleagues over two sittings on 8 and 9 December at the Turf Hill Initiative Centre.

RBH employees from across the society paid £5 for their hearty lunch, and the proceeds will all be donated to Springhill Hospice, RBH charity of the year.

On the menu for this special festive treat was home-made samosas and bhajis, followed by a choice of chicken or vegetable curry accompanied by rice and dhal, with seasonal cakes for dessert.

Gareth Zallmann, RBH Accommodation Worker, who dined with his colleagues who are based at Leopold Court, said: "The home-made food was delicious and the company even better. Hopefully lots of money has been raised for Springhill Hospice; a huge thank you to the ladies and a very happy Christmas to one and all."

Lunch on 8 December was served by RBH Communities Action Team employees Ruth Camm, Linda Holcroft, Louise Tattersall, Zahida Bashir and Khalida Crossley. They said: “Serving three courses to over 40 colleagues was extremely hard work but great fun.

"We’re delighted to have added to the money raised for Springhill Hospice and thrilled that everyone enjoyed the food – we even had some requests for seconds.”
