Man robbed in own home - Newhey

Date published: 18 November 2014

Police have released CCTV images after a man was robbed in his own home in Newhey, Rochdale.

At around 8.20pm on Wednesday 29 October 2014, the 19-year-old man heard a bang on the front door of his Hawthorne Lane home before he heard a window smash.

As he opened the door, he was confronted by two men holding batons. They demanded money and when it was handed to them, they left.

Police have now released images of a man wanted in connection with the robbery.

Police Constable Scott Britton said: "The victim suffered a tragic accident meaning he now needs to use a wheelchair and crutches to support himself. We believe the men have deliberately targeted him because of this and have made threats to return. Understandably the victim has been left upset by the incident and feared for his safety.
"I would ask people to take a good look at the image and if they recognise anyone in them, to contact police. If you saw anything suspicious at the time of the robbery, please call us."

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8549 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
