Around 100 cars were vandalised in Middleton in the early hours of today (Monday 6 October 2014).

The vandalism took place on numerous streets in and around Middleton town centre.

Detective Constable Jason Ruff from Rochdale division, said: “We have received a large number of reports this morning from residents in Middleton who have come out to find their cars have been vandalised, some have had the tyres slashed along with other damage.

“There is no other way to describe these acts other than total and utter wanton vandalism.

"This is criminal damage on a significant scale and it is not acceptable.

"I am therefore asking anyone who lives in the Middleton area to come forward with any information they may have that will help us catch the culprits.

“We are taking this matter extremely seriously and we will do everything we can, with the public's help, to identify those responsible for this senseless acts of vandalism."
