Car fire in Littleborough

Car fire Joseph Street, Littleborough
A car caught fire on Friday night (25 July) on Joseph Street, Littleborough.
It is understood that the owner of the car returned to his property to find his car on fire and said: “I have no idea what happened. I came home and the car was on fire. That’s all I know.”
Due to the nature of the fire, a number of residents were evacuated from the street by police and PCSO officers. The Fire Service arrived shortly after and tackled the fire.
Residents in the area are also unclear as to what exactly happened with some believing that arson could have played a factor in the fire.
One resident from the opposite end of the street said: “I don’t know what happened. We just heard a car beeping and then came out and saw it was on fire.”
The heat of the fire caused a for sale sign on a house nearby to melt.
The car was removed from the street yesterday (Sunday 27 July).
