The group started holding exhibitions in 1964 and have held an exhibition every year since.

“It started in a room above a fire station and since then we have made sure we have held an exhibition every year. I think we have only missed last year because we did two the year before,” said Andy.

Over the last 50 years, the group have brought some of the best examples of model railway layouts to the borough.

Today’s exhibition included Andy’s model of Newhey Station as it was in the 1960s and a model of Tollesbury Quay, a new layout based on the light railway in Essex.

Displays at the exhibition were showcased from members of the group well as friends of the group and in the style of early exhibitions held.

The exhibition continues tomorrow (Sunday 13 April) from 10.00am.
