Zoe Renshaw, from Littleborough, will be taking part in the 2014 London Marathon to raise money for Crohn’s Disease. Zoe, who has had the disease all of her life, will be taking part in the marathon on 13 April 2014, with her friend Becky Stokes.
Zoe and Becky will be raising money for the National Association of Crohn’s and Colitis charity. The charity aims to improve life for everyone affected by Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Zoe said: “It is a little spoken about disease so I want to raise awareness and raise money for the charity.”
To prepare for the race, Zoe and Becky have taken part in a number of training runs. The pair have so far taken part in a mud run, a zombie run and a paint run. The zombie run had zombies chasing the runners whilst they avoided obstacles and the paint run saw runners covered in paint every kilometer.
“It makes it a lot more interesting,” added Zoe.
As well as taking part in the marathon, Zoe and Becky have created a calendar to raise money for the charity. The pair asked their supporters to send in photos for the calendar. Businesses have then sponsored each photo generating money for the charity.
“The calendar is out at the end of the week and has been quite interesting to do,” said Zoe.
Through fundraising, Zoe and Becky hope to raise £5,000. Anyone wishing to sponsor Zoe and Becky can do so by visiting:
