Child hit by firework at Littleborough Cricket Club
Date published: 03 November 2013
A child has been hit by a firework at a display at Littleborough Cricket Club.
It is understood that fireworks went into the crowd and hit a young girl, who required first aid treatment.
Gemma Waterworth, whose daughter accompanied the injured girl to the event, said: "My daughter said 'all of a sudden fireworks were shooting towards us, I pushed a friend to the ground before one hit her, I could see one heading straight for my friend, I was screaming at her to run but it happened all too fast'.
"My daughter's exact words were 'it was like something off a movie'."
Zoe Renshaw saw the girl who was hit, she said: "Hopefully no lasting damage to her hearing. She was very shaken. Terribly organised event. I can't believe after the fireworks went into the crowd that they carried on."
Natasha Whitehead added: "It was a disgrace, the fireworks were set up far too close to the crowd. Never been to such a poorly organised event."
Littleborough Cricket Club has said it will not be issuing a statement with regards to the incident until a full investigation has taken place.
