Cadets mark Armed Forces week
Date published: 04 July 2013
Members of the Rochdale Army Cadets Force took part in parades across the borough to mark the end of Armed Forces week.
The weekend started with the Armed Forces parade on Saturday and some of the detachment was also involved in three other parades in Littleborough, Rochdale and Milnrow on Sunday - the only detachment to have representatives in each parade over the weekend.
Group Sergeant Debbie Callaghan said: “Our detachment have a great understanding of military history, so they are were all keen to get involved with the Armed Forces parade.
“We often have speakers from the armed forces coming in to give presentations to the cadets.”
When talking about their involvement with the parades, she added: “We’ve always had a great relationship with the local community; this makes it a lot easier to get involved with events such as this.
“The members that attended all three parades on Sunday were a credit to their parents and the detachment; we called it the three parade challenge as it was difficult to travel that distance in such a short space of time.”
