A preview event ahead of tomorrow’s opening of the Feel Good Café has taken place.

The café, is the first business to open within Rochdale Emporium, a new retail destination on the second floor of 87-89 Yorkshire Street, above 25 Ten Boutique.

The café takes its name from the annual Rochdale Feel Good Festival and will be used as one of the official venues during the event, but also a place to stage ‘Feel Good’ style events throughout the year.

Regular events will take including live music, poetry readings, art exhibitions and cookery demonstrations.

Town centre business owners, councillors and council officers, were amongst those at the preview event. They were entertained by celebrity chef Aazam Ahmad.

The café will be run by Rochdale Town Centre Management. They have taken on three staff, two of which are apprentices.

Debbie O’Brien, Chief Executive of Rochdale Town Centre Management said: “I am really proud of it [the café] it is better than I expected, there is a fabulous feel about the place and we are getting great feedback about the ambience.”

The plan now is to utilise the rest of the space in The Emporium. Mrs O’Brien, said: “We want to show that there can be really good things in Rochdale.”

A special ‘Feel Good Cupcake’ was also launched, which has been especially created by Brown’s Handcrafted Cakes on St. Mary’s Gate.

The Feel Good Café will be open from Monday to Saturday from Friday 16 March, serving hot and cold light bites, drinks and desserts.
