Father Christmas runners raise cash for hospice
Date published: 11 December 2011
Over one hundred fundraisers donning Father Christmas costumes took part in a fun run around Hollingworth Lake to raise funds for Springhill Hospice.
Men, women, children and even dogs, met at the Hollingworth Lake Visitor Centre on Sunday morning (11 December) and braved the rain to take part in the annual event.
They were set on their way at 11.00am by Dean Connaughton, Fundraiser for Springhill Hospice.
Speaking to Rochdale Online Mr Connaughton, said: “The turnout is really good considering the weather.
“We are hoping to raise many thousands of pounds today.”
Amongst those taking part was this year’s Woman of the Year, Anne Needham.
The Father Christmas Fun Run has become a prominent fundraising event for the hospice over the years and all money raised from the day will go towards the running costs of the hospice.
The amount raised is expected to be announced later in the week.
