Train derails near Littleborough

A train derailed after hitting ice in the Summit tunnel near Littleborough in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 28 December 2010).
The 12.38am Manchester Airport to York train came off the tracks at Walsden and hit the tunnel wall at 1.49am.
The train was carrying 45 passengers.
No-one was hurt in the incident.
The passengers and driver were led to safety by fire-fighters.
The incident is now the subject of an investigation by Network Rail and the British Transport Police.
