Year 3 class took part in a Roman feast, as part of their History project. The pupils were able to dress up in Roman costumes and act out the parts of Roman villagers, whilst sampling a typical Roman diet of chicken, cheeses, grapes, olives, breads and grape juice.

The Lower Prep children have been very busy developing their garden area. This week the Year 2 pupils have started building bird houses, Year 1 have made bird seed and fat balls and the Reception children have made popcorn and cranberry feeding strings.

Staff request that the Lower Prep Christmas Concert costumes are brought into school prior to Friday 26 November

Year 1 and 2 children attended the Remembrance Day Ceremony at 11am on the 11 November at the Cenotaph.
Parents are reminded that the deadline to enrol for the Christmas Holiday Club is Wednesday 8 December.

The Under 11’s girl’s football team played in a tournament at Hopwood Hall College. Despite torrential weather conditions, the girls battled bravely and, despite drawing two of their matches they all enjoyed their first tournament. Players of the day were Vienna Simic and Mahirah Hasan.

The Under 11’s netball team played against Meanwood. Both teams struggled in the difficult conditions but it was Meanwood who took an early lead. Beech House worked hard in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to pull the game level. Both teams went for the win in the final quarter but it was Meanwood who scored the crucial winning goal, to edge the game 4-3. Player of the day was Vienna Simic.

The Under 13’s netball team played against Falinge and Hollingworth respectively. Against Falinge, they played with great control and led from the start to finish, thanks to some outstanding shooting from Cecily Morgan. She thoroughly deserved her player of the match award. The match against Hollingworth proved to be a much tougher affair and they suffered their second heavy defeat of the season. Player of the match was Alice Davies.

The Under 15’s netball team also played against Falinge and Hollingworth. They struggled against Falinge who played with great speed and control. Player of the match was Yolanda Cruz. They did, however, gain a surprise victory over Hollingworth. Despite playing against a weakened Hollingworth team, Beech House played to their strengths. All the players were excellent but Jennifer Garrity and Saira Mahmood were outstanding in attack.

Ten Year 10 GCSE PE students recently attended a training day for Sports Ambassadors. The aim of the day was to give pupils the opportunity to learn the skills needed to lead a sports activity at their own school. All the pupils said they had enjoyed the day and some of them have already begun to put in some voluntary time helping out with some of the younger teams.

The Form of the Week was Year 4 and the House Point totals are Saturn 65 Mercury 52 Neptune 46 and Jupiter 30.
