Falinge Park pupils prepare for festival debut

Date published: 15 July 2010

A group of nine music students from Falinge Park High School are busy preparing for their debut at the Rochdale Feel Good Festival next month.

The group will be performing a collection of songs with an afternoon show at Touchstones Arts and Heritage Centre.

The musicians are members of the schools lunchtime and after school song writing class, and have composed their own songs for the festival with help from their Music Workshop Leader Michael Dalby, Mr Decourcey, Head of Creative and Expressive Arts, and Ms Emma Williams, Head of Music.

The school was recently re-accredited for its Performing Arts College Specialist Status, and they jumped at the chance of appearing at the Feel Good Festival.

Mr Dalby said how everyone is excited about the performance: “The students have been working hard for several months on their own songs and arrangements of current songs.

“They are all keen music fans and are hoping lots of people come to support them. We are proud of their work and it promises to be a fantastic show!”

The students have learnt about all aspects of making music, including the practical theory, reading music, singing and playing instruments. They will be performing an assorted mix of music, from pop and indie, through to soft rock.

The performance takes place on Saturday 14 August between 12pm – 3pm.
