Emergency services home-in on revellers

Could they be helping you home this Christmas...police, fire, ambulance and NHS workers hope not.

Who’s taking you home tonight? That’s the question emergency services want Christmas revellers to think about.

Greater Manchester Police, the North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Fire Service and the NHS are asking party-goers to think about their own safety and how they plan to get home.

Inspector Ron Orr, from the Manchester City Safe team, said: “Victims of alcohol-related crimes make themselves vulnerable or make wrong decisions when they have had too much to drink.

“Additional police officers will be out on the streets during this busy time to reassure the public that we are all working together to take care of those who need it.

“But we ask that people stop and think about putting their own safety first. By remembering to stay together with friends and look after each other, people will be far less likely to become a victim of crime or violence.”
