New guest for Live Life as Bev Callard takes time out

Date published: 01 March 2009

Coronation Street star Anthony Cotton, not Bev Callard, will be appearing at Live Life at the Middleton Arena on Monday, Rochdale Online can exclusively reveal.

Cotton, who plays barman and factory worker Sean Tully in the top ITV soap will be popping in to meet visitors during the event, aimed at helping you to lead a healthier lifestyle and have fun while you’re at it.

He is a late replacement for Bev Callard, the flame haired actress who plays Liz McDonald. Bev has dramatically taken time off Coronation Street, and hasn’t been seen at the studios for over a week. A council spokesman confirmed Anthony Cotton will now be attending the healthy living show between 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm:

“Antony supported Live Life last year when it was staged in Rochdale and he was a real hit with visitors. He loved the event and is currently training to take part in the Manchester 10K in May, so he wants to pick up some health tips. He’s looking forward to visiting the new Middleton Arena too.”

Soap fans will be familiar with Antony, the Weatherfield regular, who has spent the last few years livening up Coronation Street. His flamboyant performance won him the Inside Soap Award for Funniest Performance in 2006. In 2007 he collected the Best Actor Award at the British Soap Awards, starred in his own teatime chat show and won the ITV singing competition - Soapstar Superstar!

The event is being staged by Rochdale Borough Council and NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR.)

His co-star Samia Smith, best known as Maria will be at the event between 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm.
