Rochdale born BBC Radio 3 DJ Andy Kershaw has been sentenced to a three month suspended jail term after admitting harassing his former partner.
Mr Kershaw, who now lives in the Isle of Man, said he was "heartbroken" after partner Juliette Banner started another relationship.
High Bailiff Michael Moyle told Mr Kershaw he did not want to make him a "martyr".
Mr Kershaw admitted breaching a restraining order and driving under the influence of alcohol.
A Radio 3 spokeswoman said: "He is currently on a break from Radio 3 and we will be talking to him about his future in due course."
Ms Banner, who has two children with Mr Kershaw, was granted an order preventing him from approaching her home in Peel on 1 August.
