Greenbank Primary School collect donations for Rochdale Foodbank

Date published: 29 March 2022

Year 3 students at Greenbank Primary School have collected donations for the Rochdale Foodbank.

Volunteers were invited to the school to talk about what they do for the community as part of the year’s PSHE.

Jo Hill, who volunteers with the foodbank, spent the afternoon telling the children about her role and answering questions.

Year 3 alone collected so many donations that Jo couldn’t take them with her, instead arranging for a later collection on Friday morning (25 March).

Emily Paterson, Year 3 teacher, said: “We decided to set ourselves the challenge of collecting more donations, so we extended the collection date by a week and asked staff and children in other classes for donations.

“The food was collected this morning and the volunteer was very overwhelmed by how much we had collected. He said it was the biggest donation so far this year and should help to feed over 100 people.”
