Woman killed in hit and run in Norden

A woman has been killed in a hit and run in Norden, Rochdale.

The woman - believed to be in her 60's - was struck by a car just before 5pm today (Sunday 19 December) on Edenfield Road, close to the junction with Elmsfield Avenue.

The car - believed to be a grey Mercedes or Audi - failed to stop at the scene.

Emergency services attended and a woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and Edenfield Road was closed whilst police carried out enquiries.

Chief Inspector Bob Cantrell, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Our thoughts remain firmly with the woman's loved ones at this difficult time.

"If anyone witnessed this collision and has any dashcam footage or information about the grey car please get in touch with police as soon as possible. It is believed the grey car will have significant damage to the front end."
