Firefighters spend 19 hours tackling blaze at Rochdale industrial unit

Firefighters spent 19 hours tackling a blaze at a Crawford Street industrial unit on Wednesday and Thursday (25 and 26 November).

The fire service was called at 5.22pm on Wednesday, arriving at the scene with engines from Rochdale, Chadderton, Littleborough, Heywood, Hyde, Holins, Salford and Stockport.

Local residents had been asked to keep doors and windows closed and avoid the area.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: "Firefighters used six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a ultra-high pressured lance, a nine metre ladder, two safety jets and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

"We were in attendance for approximately nineteen hours."
