Christian Kilduff raises over £27,000 for NHS with immense challenge

Five-year-old Christian Kilduff, of Heywood, has raised over £27,000 for the NHS by taking on an incredible challenge for the service.

Having already overcome many obstacles in his life, Christian, who was stillborn at birth, is walking three whole miles over two weeks with his walking frame for the health service which saved his life.

Taking his first breath at 24 minutes old, Christian was left with a HIE brain injury from the lack of oxygen. Placed on a ventilator to try and save his life, he was given less than a 1% chance of coming out of the coma.

Miraculously, the brave little boy, who has also been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and registered severely sight impaired, has proved critics wrong.

Christian’s three-mile challenge has, at the time of publication, raised a staggering £27,606 for the NHS to help care for Covid-19 patients.

Even the likes of Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams and singer Olly Murs have supported little Christian’s feat, donating £12,000 between them.

Donating £10,000 last weekend, Mr Walliams wrote on the crowdfunding page: “You are an absolute star Christian. It is an amazing challenge for such a brilliant cause. I hope to see you again soon.”

 

 

With the determined dedication of his sister Jade, 19, who wants to improve the lives of others with disabilities, Christian has been taught sign language to communicate and can also eat, talk, and walk using his frame – all things his family were told he wouldn’t be able to do.

Christian pulled through and has gone on to achieve many great things – including online fame with Jade through their online channel ‘Sign Along With Us’ and being awarded the coveted golden buzzer on the latest series of Britain’s Got Talent.

Joined by a choir of other local children and adults, for an emotional rendition of ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman, the group was awarded the golden buzzer – catapulting them to the show’s live semi-finals – after moving judges to tears.
