Rochdale in Bloom are officially going for gold once more as their entry into the North West in Bloom Competition officially launched on Thursday (6 June).
Members of Rochdale In Bloom, their sponsors and volunteer community groups gathered outside the town hall for the exciting launch.
Last year, the volunteer-led Rochdale in Bloom scooped an outstanding number of awards, with a gold award for the third year in a row in the Large Town/Small City category at North West in Bloom, plus gold at the national Britain in Bloom.

This year, Rochdale in Bloom has signed a headline sponsorship deal with the Co-op, in addition to partnering with H Bell & Sons and Rochdale Training.

Roy Down, chair of Rochdale in Bloom, said: “The ln Boom launch for 2019 was, for me, the best one so far, because there were representatives from so many different community groups and volunteers.
“Many thanks to REAG, Petrus, Springhill Hospice, The Growth Project, St Edwards Primary, Bee-Inspired, and many more. Special thanks to our sponsors, the Co-op and Louise Scott from H Bell & Sons, and Rochdale Borough Council’s Environmental Management team and Rochdale Online for supporting our group.”
Mayor Billy Sheerin, who is a member of the Rochdale in Bloom committee, added: “We are thrilled with our new sponsor. After the success of last year, we are up and running and raring to go. It is an important community event, and everyone enjoys the results.”
The RHS Britain in Bloom judges will visit Rochdale in July, with results announced at a special awards ceremony in Southport on 1 November.
