Armed robbery leaves shop staff shaken in Middleton

Date published: 22 May 2019

Staff were left shaken after an armed robbery at a shop on Kenyon Lane in Middleton on Sunday (19 May).

McColl’s was robbed at around 9.40am by two offenders, who threatened staff and demanded they hand over a quantity of cash.

No-one was injured during the robbery. However, police believe that one of the men was in possession of a firearm – while the second man is believed to have been wielding a knife. As such, staff were left understandably shaken.

The offenders fled in a white 3 door Audi A3 with cash and items from behind the tills.

They are both described as white and in their early to mid 20s.

One is believed to have been wearing a black hoodie with grey sleeves and a large white Nike Air logo down the back.

The second offender was wearing a navy hoodie with navy pants and dark coloured trainers.

Anyone who has any information about the robbery should call police on 0161 856 4640, quoting incident number 726 of 19/05/2019.

Details can also be passed on anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
