Burnside Toy Bank now open

Date published: 18 February 2019

A ‘Toy Bank’ for families in financial difficulties is being piloted at Burnside Centre on Langley, Middleton.

A free and confidential service to support anyone in financial difficulties, unable to purchase gifts for a child means people can visit the toy bank and receive a maximum of three age appropriate brand-new toys and a reading book.

The centre can currently cater for babies to children 14 years old and can be accessed by filling out a simple request form at Burnside Community Centre.

Kerry Edwards, Burnside Centre Manager said: “We’re excited about this pilot project and hope it will achieve its aim of supporting local Middleton families and children.

“All toys are sealed and brand new, as due to health and safety, we unfortunately cannot accept second hand or used toys.

“Anyone can fall on hard times; thankfully there are lots of services to help, Burnside Centre being one of them."

For more information, please visit Burnside Centre and ask for a member of staff, who will be happy to help.
