A Middleton to Oldham bus route will become an hourly service from the end of October.
The 415, operated by First Manchester, will reduce from every half an hour to just one service an hour from Monday 29 October.
The service runs through Middleton and Alkrington before passing Middleton Junction to Chadderton and Oldham.
A First Manchester spokesperson, said: “The number of customers using the 415 service has been declining over recent months and we have therefore made the decision to operate the service hourly, as opposed to every 30 minutes.”
A resident, who didn't want to be named, said: "This will make it very difficult for people who don’t drive or have had to give up driving for medical reasons.
"It will be hard arranging hospital appointments, dentists, doctors or opticians, shopping for food or personal items, having the independence to call on a friend or member of your family. Then, having got there, we have to sort out the return journey: these appointments don’t alway run to time it’s an impossible task.
"It is not a good situation, extremely poor."
