Woolworth's Club saved from closure

Woolworth's Social Club has been saved from closure and will remain open with all bookings for the function room being honoured.

Following the news on Rochdale Online that the club was to cease trading after more than 39 years of business, a rescue package has been proposed and the club saved.

Frank Salt said: “The suppliers have proposed a rescue package.

“We have had a very good response from members and the local community sending messages of support and donations.

“We are relieved and jubilant that this family club has been saved.

“The community and members can go forward to keep the cub, and its unique family atmosphere, alive for the foreseeable future.”

Councillor Billy Sheerin said: “I am delighted the club has been saved, this is great news.”
