Four men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after man attacked with axe

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was seriously injured in an axe attack on Church Road on Tuesday (17 October).
Shortly before 3.30pm on Tuesday 17 October, police were called to Church Road to reports that a man had been attacked with an axe.

Police and paramedics attended and found a man with serious injuries to his hand before he was taken to hospital where he remains for treatment.
Four men, aged 53, 27, 25 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Adrian Gallagher of GMP’s Rochdale borough said: “This was a brutal attack on a man in broad daylight which has left him with a life changing injury.
“We have carried out significant enquiries since the incident took place and we have now arrested four men on suspicion of attempted murder. They are currently being questioned by detectives.
“I would continue to ask that anybody with information which they think could assist us contacts the police immediately.”
