Rochdale has performed better that the national pass rate (97.9%) which went down 0.2% on the previous year.

The percentage of students gaining grades A* and A also went up this year, with 22.6% achieving the top two marks, an increase of 1.1% on 2016.

The percentage of students gaining three or more A-Levels at grades A*-E in 2017 was more than two-thirds of the borough’s students at 69.4%.

Councillor Donna Martin, portfolio holder for children’s services praised the achievements of the students: “These are fantastic results for our students and they should be very proud of all their hard work.

"To be bucking the national trend is a great achievement for the borough so a huge thanks to the students, staff at our colleges and sixth forms, parents and guardians who all work hard to support students in their A-Levels.”
