Sunshine Preschool World Book Day

Date published: 07 March 2017

Children and staff at Sunshine Preschool participated in World Book Day on Thursday 2 March, by dressing up and looking at a range of stories.

The children enjoyed using various mediums for stories; PowerPoint, a DVD story, Kindle tablet and of course the best way; through reading books.

This event has enabled practitioners to observe children's and parents' knowledge, understanding and value of story time and reading books.

Shabina Kauser, Manager of Sunshine Preschool said: “Today has once again been a wonderful experience to engage children and their parents for this event.

Deeplish Children's Centre's Early Years Worker Keeley Erdogan also participated by reading Dear Zoo as part of the Book Start Initiative and the children received vouchers and colouring packs".

Nafees Ahmed, a key worker at Sunshine said: “When you spend time reading to toddlers, they are much more likely to express themselves and relate to others in a healthy way. It also helps improving communication skills”

Sohail Ahmad, Project manager for sunshine said, “Parents must set up good practice to read books with their children at home too, as it helps building stronger bonds and healthy relationship as a family.

“It also helps preschool children to achieve excellence in future formal education.

“It’s very important that today’s preschool children are given essential skills to be tomorrow leaders and scientists.”
