Two-year-old girl fighting for her life after being taken to hospital with ‘serious head injuries’

A two-year-old girl from Rochdale is fighting for her life after she was taken to North Manchester General Hospital on Wednesday night (11 January) having suffered head injuries in a suspected assault.
Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance service attended the incident on Daimler Street in Cheetham Hill.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Police were alerted by the ambulance service shortly after 7pm on Wednesday 11 January, after a two-year-old girl from Rochdale was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.
“She remains in a critical condition in hospital.
“A 34-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remain in police custody for questioning.”
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received the call at 5.42pm and arrived on the scene at 5.49pm. One ambulance took a patient to North Manchester General Hospital.”
