Appeal for volunteers to clear dumped tyres near Ashworth Fold

Date published: 28 December 2016

The Friends of Ashworth Valley are appealing for help to clear a large number of tyres that have been fly-tipped down an embankment near Ashworth Fold.

The Friends said: “The farmer who works the land is worrying about how he is going to clear this eyesore of about 50-60 tyres that have been tipped.

“A young farmer with his first farm, a young family and already not enough hours in the day should not have all this extra strain and worry put on him thanks to a thoughtless act from a local tyre company.

“The task will not be made easy due to the location's boggy ground, so if anyone can spare a couple of hours on the weekend of 7/8 January, we and the farmer would be very grateful.”

To help, contact Martin from The Friends on 07500 241 735.

UPDATE

Paul Ellison has been in touch and said: "I'm committing all resources to undertake this task, tractors, ropes, winches and voluntary providing all my help.

"It's absolutely disgusting what's going on in Ashworth Valley; let's bring the community together as we undertake this clean up operation."
