Tonacliffe Primary School evacuates all pupils after bomb scare

Tonacliffe Primary School in Whitworth has evacuated all pupils after a bomb scare this morning (Friday 9 December).
Shocked parents received a text asking them to pick up their children immediately without any mention of the incident. It also stated for parents to not call the school and that the school was closed.

Parents have reported seeing at least three police helicopters above Whitworth since the incident occurred.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “We were called at around 9am this morning to reports of a bomb threat at Tonacliffe School, Whitworth.
“At this stage we do not believe it to be a credible threat and enquiries are on-going to establish where the call has come from.
“The school have made the decision to evacuate the building and send pupils home.“
