Man stabbed on Fleece Street during street brawl

A 42-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his back following a large scale disturbance on Fleece Street, Rochdale.

It is believed that a fight began with a large number of people in a club on Fleece Street, which then spilled out onto the street.

Police were called at around 2.50am on Saturday 26 November and the man was taken to hospital with stab wounds to his back and has since been discharged from hospital.

A 24-year-old man was also taken to hospital with a small cut to the head and released after treatment.

Police launched an investigation and a knife was recovered from a nearby location.

Two men aged 19 and 28 and two boys aged 17 and another aged 16 were arrested on suspicion of affray and bailed.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 347 of 26/11/16 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
