Debbie said: “We’ve all been lucky - this time. This isn’t the first time it’s happened; on two other occasions, someone has driven through the neighbours’ garden into ours, completely destroying the wall in the middle. People have driven into the bus stop before as well.

“It’s really a matter of everyone’s safety, we don’t want someone to go through the house into our front room. I’ve spoken to my local councillor, Cecile Biant, who said she’d put my case forward.

“We were all in shock. My children were at home when they heard a screech followed by a loud bang and then the house shook. Luckily, my son’s car was hit by the car and that received the brunt of the impact.”

A GMP spokesperson said: "Shortly after 6pm on Sunday 4 December 2017, police on patrol in the Rochdale area noticed a stolen silver Kia C'eed being driven along Shawclough Road.

"A short police pursuit took place and at 6.15pm the vehicle collided with a stationary vehicle, a wall and a house on Sandy Lane in Rochdale.

"Officers arrested a 23-year-old man who was the driver of the vehicle at the scene.

"Two women, aged 18 and 46, who were passengers in the vehicle, were taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

“As is normal in these situations this incident has been referred to our Professional Standards Branch and the IPCC has been informed. An investigation has now begun and anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact police on 101.”

Councillor Cecille Biant has been contacted for comment.
