Michael Burke found guilty of rape of girls and a woman

Michael Burke (03/09/1978), of College Bank, Rochdale, has been convicted (Wednesday 30 November) of eight charges of rape and one charge of buggery in relation to the historic sexual abuse of two girls, who at the time were aged under 14 and under 16, and a woman in her late 20s.
The incidents took place between May 1990 and March 2010.
A unanimous verdict was reached on five charges in relation to a girl who was under the age of 16 at the time of the offences. Burke was 16 at the time.
On three charges in relation to a girl who was under the age of 14 at the time of offence, the jury reached a 10-2 majority verdict.
Sentencing will take place on Thursday 15 December following receipt of a pre-sentencing report to Judge Mr Justice Gilbart.
Burke has been remanded in custody until sentencing.
