Trial of Michael Burke on charges of historical sexual offences starts

The trial of Michael Burke (03/09/1978), of College Bank, Rochdale started at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday (16 November).
Burke faces charges of historical sexual offences including rape, attempted rape and indecent assault.
Fourteen of the charges are in relation to two girls, who were under 14 and under 16 at the time of the alleged assaults, with three related to a woman in her late 20s.
The allegations made against Burke took place between September 1992 and March 2010.
Prosecuting is Peter Wright QC whilst Nigel Power QC is defending.
A jury was sworn in before hearing the charges.
Burke has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently on bail.
The trial is expected to continue until approximately Friday 2 December.
