Justin Bingham has been jailed for a string of historic sexual offences.
Bingham, (18/10/1975) of Hurstead Road, Milnrow, Rochdale, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to two charges of inciting a girl under sixteen to commit an act of gross indecency, one charge of making indecent photo of a child, one charge of possessing an indecent photograph of a child and one charge of producing a controlled drug of class B cannabis.
Bingham met the victim at a pub in Rochdale in 2001 when she was aged 14, from this point the pair began to see each other and engaged in a sexual relationship.
This continued for several years, during which time Bingham would pick the victim up from school and they engaged in sexual intercourse.
Bingham took pictures of the victim and recorded the pair performing sex acts. The girl also became pregnant twice over this period.
When initially interviewed, Bingham said he met the girl after school but believed she was 16.
Bingham said that the girl had an abortion when she was 16 however medical documentation proved that she was 14 at the time.
Detective Constable Scott Britton said: “This was a sustained period of abuse which has had a profound impact on this young girl and will continue to affect her for the rest of her life.
“I would like to pay tribute to the victim who came forward to give evidence against Bingham after living with the knowledge of what he has done for all these years.
“Thanks to her bravery he has been convicted for the appalling abuse he subjected her to and has been brought to justice.
“I hope this shows anyone who may have been the victim of sexual abuse that Greater Manchester Police are committed to providing help and support and we will catch those responsible.”
