An 80-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife were subjected to a terrifying ordeal when two burglars in balaclavas broke into their home and frogmarched the terrified man room to room demanding money.
The men broke into the address on Newfield View, off Pennine Drive, Milnrow at approximately 9.30pm on Saturday evening, threatening the 80-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife.
The elderly man was ordered to walk around the house with one of the thugs to reveal where money was kept, while the woman, who is disabled, was kept in a chair in the living room.
The two men left the house with what police describe as a “substantial amount of cash”, although the amount remains undisclosed.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers were called to the address on Newfield View at approximately 9.30pm after calls there had been a burglary. Two men wearing balaclavas entered the house while two people were inside, and stole a large quantity of cash before leaving.”
Anyone with information should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
