Our Year 11s were narrowly beaten 4-3; also against Cardinal Langley. Well done to all involved - Champions and Runners up all in one night.

Year 7 News: Big Fun Run 2016 - Year 7 Lenten Charities efforts

Last week saw the finale assembly for the year 7 Lenten Charity efforts for 2016. For this, Mr Lockett challenged the Year 7 pupils to try to run the distance of a marathon between the whole year group with pupils gaining sponsorship and donations from their family and friends. In their first year of raising money for those less fortunate during the Lenten period, the Year 7 pupils have been absolutely brilliant with their efforts with cake sales, guess the weight competitions and Easter raffles happening on a weekly basis.

During their PE lessons, pupils dressed in silly hats, wigs and accessories to try and cover the distance of a marathon. Pupils managed to cover a total distance of 190 miles within the allotted time (the equivalent of running from Rochdale to Blackpool and back twice!). It was a superb effort from all involved, with the boys’ overall winner being MacKenzie King and the girls winner being Savannah Padfield. In addition to this, form 7.5 covered the biggest distance (an impressive 212 laps) and form 7.3 raised the most money with just over £190.

In total the Year group managed to raise £789. This will now go towards our chosen charities; Caritas and St Joseph's penny. This is a huge achievement in your first year at St Cuthbert's and a massive congratulations to all involved.

KS3 Reward Trip

Last week, as a reward for their exemplary behaviour and attitude during the spring term, 27 year 7/8 pupils enjoyed a reward trip to Strike Ten at Sandbrook Park. Accompanied by members of staff, pupils really enjoyed themselves and even managed to corner Mr Williams and Mr Lockett in the lazer quest arena. Taylor Stewart was named kingpin with the highest score in the ten pin bowling, with Usaid Atiq showing everyone how it is done with the highest score in the lazer quest. With all pupils commenting on how much fun it was, it may only be a matter of time again until they are challenging staff on the next end of term trip.
