Plans for 37 homes on Hare Hill Mill site

Date published: 02 May 2016

A planning application has been submitted to convert Hare Hill Mill on Hare Hill Road, Littleborough into residential homes.

Hare Hill Mill is currently the home of Proofings Technology Ltd and the proposals involve the demolition of the existing buildings on site, with the exception of the façade of the offices and warehouse to Hare Hill Road. A new residential building will be constructed behind this façade.

Overall the scheme will provide 6 two bedroom apartments; 19 two storey three bedroom houses and 12 three storey four bedroom houses.

The planning application states that Proofings currently employs 20 people and is looking to relocate within the Rochdale Borough.

The existing group of buildings range from late 19th Century warehouses, to 1920s industrial element to more recent additions; the buildings are dilapidated and dated and do not therefore meet modern requirements for employment.

Rochdale Borough Council has a target to build 400 new homes per year for the next 12 years and, as the site is currently a brown-field site, it is highly likely to be approved by Planning Officers.

The public has until 19 May to comment on the application.
