Top marks for ‘outstanding’ Stonefield Street Surgery

Stonefield Street Surgery in Milnrow has been officially rated as ‘outstanding’, putting it amongst the top performing GP practices in the country.

After a recent inspection the practice was given the highest possible rating by healthcare regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Top marks were given in a number of areas including the services provided for older people, people experiencing poor mental health (including dementia) and families, children and young people.

Commended for its clear vision, which has ‘quality and safety as its top priority‘, inspectors found a strong patient-centred culture at the practice and staff were praised for their ability to provide kind and compassionate care.

Amongst many other positive points in the glowing report, the practice was also praised for constantly listening to its patients and responding in a timely way to improve the services it provides.

Dr Lynn Hampson, GP at Stonefield Street Surgery and Clinical Lead for NHS HMR CCG, said: “The preparation for the (CQC) inspection was a huge challenge. We were determined to show the inspectors just how good a practice we really are.

“The staff work so hard, and the excellent teamwork of both clinicians and other staff are reflected in the (CQC) results. I am so proud and grateful to everyone at the practice and, of course, to our patients whose contribution to the rating, and the surgery as a whole, can’t be understated.”

Karen Kelland, speaking on behalf of the surgery’s Patient Participation Group, a group of local patients that works with the practice to help improve its services, said: “It (the CQC rating) is a fantastic achievement for the hardworking staff who always strive to deliver high standards of service with care and kindness.

“Patients are confident that their concerns and any issues they raise, no matter how difficult, are listened to and responses by staff reflect the value they place on working with the group.

“We look forward to continuing to working together to maintain our high standards of care and encouraging patients to be involved and informed about their health services, so they are better able to ensure their own well-being and manage their own health to live better and happier lives.”
